 Musical Chairs - Spelling

This game is a great way to practice spelling. It gives your children a different change of pace other than just reciting the words back to you. It gets them up and active.

Materials:

-Paper

-Marker

-Tape

-Music

-Spelling list

Directions:

1. Label each chair a different number (one number for each spelling word). If there are too many spelling words and not enough chairs you can put multiple numbers on each chair, just pay attention to which ones you have already tested them over.

2. Once each chair has numbers on it, get the music and let it play while your child walks around the chairs that are in a circle.

3. Stop the music whenever you want, whichever number your child has stopped on is what spelling word you give them.

4. Have them spell it, if they get it right they can eliminate a chair.

5. Continue until all the chairs are gone, and all of the words have been practiced.
